Hymn
O Lord my God! when I in awesome wonder
Consider all the worlds Thy hands have made,
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
Then sings my soul! my Savior God, to Thee:
How great Thou art, how great Thou art!
When through the woods and forest glades I
wander
And hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down from lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook and feel the gentle
breeze:
Then sings my
soul etc.
And when I think that God, His Son not
sparing,
Sent Him to die, I scarce can take it in;
That on the cross, my burden gladly bearing,
He bled and died to take away my sin:
Then sings my
soul etc.
When Christ shall come with shout of
acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my
heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, my God, how great Thou
art!
Then sings my
soul etc

Hymn
The Lord's my Shepherd, I'll not want;He makes me down to lie
In pastures green; He leadeth me
The quiet waters by.
My soul He doth restore again
And me to walk doth make
Within the paths of righteousness,
E'en for His own name's sake.
Yea, tho' I walk in death's dark vale,
Yet will I fear no ill;
For Thou art with me, and Thy rod
And staff me comfort still.
My table Thou hast furnished
In presence of my foes;
My head Thou dost with oil anoint,
And my cup overflows.
Goodness and mercy, all my life,
Shall surely follow me;
And in God's house forevermore
My dwelling place shall be.

Offertory Hymn
Sweet Sacrament divine,hid in thine earthly home;
lo! round thy lowly shrine,
with suppliant hearts we come;
Jesus, to thee our voice we raise
In songs of love and heartfelt praise
sweet Sacrament divine.
Sweet Sacrament of peace,
dear home of every heart,
where restless yearnings cease,
and sorrows all depart.
there in thine ear, all trustfully,
we tell our tale of misery,
sweet Sacrament of peace.
Sweet Sacrament of rest,
ark from the ocean's roar,
within thy shelter blest
soon may we reach the shore;
save us, for still the tempest raves,
save, lest we sink beneath the waves:
sweet Sacrament of rest.
Sweet Sacrament divine,
earth's light and jubilee,
in thy far depths doth shine
the Godhead's majesty;
sweet light, so shine on us, we pray
that earthly joys may fade away:
sweet Sacrament divine.

A Reading from the Book of Wisdom
The souls of the just are in the hand of God,
and no torment shall touch them.
They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead;
and their passing away was thought an affliction
and their going forth from us, utter destruction.
But they are in peace.
For if in the eyes of men, indeed they be punished,
yet is their hope full of immortality;
Chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed,
because God tried them
and found them worthy of himself.
As gold in the furnace, he proved them,
and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself.
Those who trust in him shall understand truth,
and the faithful shall abide with him in love;
Because grace and mercy are with his holy ones,
and his care is with his elect.

A Reading from St Paul's 1st Epistle to the Corinthians
Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for
the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible,
and we shall be changed.
For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.
So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this
mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the
saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

A Reading from the Gospel According to Luke
And behold, two of them were going that very day to a village named
Emmaus, which was about seven miles from Jerusalem. 14 And they were
conversing with each other about all these things which had taken
place. 15 And it came about that while they were conversing and
discussing, Jesus Himself approached, and began traveling with them. 16
But their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him.
17 And He said to them, “What are these words that you are exchanging with one another as
you are walking?” And they stood still, looking sad.
18 And one of
them, named Cleopas, answered and said to Him, “Are You the only one
visiting Jerusalem and unaware of the things which have happened here
in these days?”
19 And He said to them, “What things?”
And they said to
Him, “The things about Jesus the Nazarene, who was a prophet mighty in
deed and word in the sight of God and all the people, 20 and how the
chief priests and our rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death,
and crucified Him.
21 “But we were hoping that it was He who was going
to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, it is the third day since
these things happened.
22 “But also some women among us amazed us. When
they were at the tomb early in the morning, 23 and did not find His
body, they came, saying that they had also seen a vision of angels, who
said that He was alive.
24 “And some of those who were with us went to
the tomb and found it just exactly as the women also had said; but Him
they did not see.”
25 And He said to them, “O foolish men and slow of
heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken!
26 “Was it not
necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His
glory?” 27 And beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, He
explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures.
28 And they approached the village where they were going, and He acted
as though He would go farther. 29 And they urged Him, saying, “Stay
with us, for it is getting toward evening, and the day is now nearly
over.” And He went in to stay with them.
30 And it came about that when
He had reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed
it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them. 31 And their eyes were
opened and they recognized Him; and He vanished from their sight.
32
And they said to one another, “Were not our hearts burning within us
while He was speaking to us on the road, while He was explaining the
Scriptures to us?” 33 And they arose that very hour and returned to
Jerusalem, and found gathered together the eleven and those who were
with them, 34 saying, “The Lord has really risen, and has appeared to
Simon.”
35 And they began to relate their experiences on the road and
how He was recognized by them in the breaking of the bread.
